From the airport

Public transit
NYC, Boston, DC, SF, Chicago have functional metro/bus systems. Most other US cities effectively require a car.
Domestic flights
Often cheaper and faster than long-distance trains. Southwest, JetBlue, Delta and American serve most routes; Spirit/Frontier are budget but with strict baggage.
Driving
